The Community Corrections service was created to divert felony offenders from the Tennessee Prison system and to provide necessary supervision and services to the offenders with the goal of reducing the probability of continued criminal behavior while maintaining the safety of the community. Today, Community Corrections offers local courts increased options, assists victims, provides public services to local governments, and remains a cost-effective alternative to incarceration.
Mid-Cumberland Community Corrections service serves the following in Tennessee’s 16th, 18th, 21st, and 23rd judicial districts:
felony offenders and their families
victims through collection of restitution
community through community service

Costs
Through the Community Corrections Programs, taxpayers avoid paying the high costs of jail or prison for non-violent offenders. Average cost is less than $4.00 a day for Community Corrections Supervision Programs. The program also leaves space in the jails and prisons for violent and repeat offenders, and avoids additional tax costs for Tennessee taxpayers.
